Asian Taxi Driver's Funeral

The Lancashire town of Bury was shocked by the cowardly murder of an Asian taxi driver who was robbed by a group of drunks, who then knocked him down and ran over the body repeatedly with his own car.

The funeral was the largest the town had ever seen with over 2000 mourners gathering to pay their respects in freezing rain and hail.

The saddest sight was that of a young boy helping to carry his father's coffin and his young relatives looking bereft.

The job posed some dilemmas, is it right to portray grieving children or the bodies of murder victims. I simply posed the question to the editor of the Bury Times- will you use pictures courageously to tell the story? The story was used over several pages without any of the more horrific pictures being edited.
